Kay McCarthy practices with McDowell Rice’s Family Law & Divorce, and Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice groups.  She is an experienced family law and mediation attorney, and has extensive trial experience handling both court and jury trials.  Ms. McCarthy has completed Core, Civil, and Family Mediation training and has advanced coursework in Family Mediation.  Ms. McCarthy has significant mediation experience in corporate environments mediating disputes between departments, and between companies and their clients. She also conducts seminars on conflict resolution in the workplace. She is licensed to practice in both Kansas and Missouri.

Ms. McCarthy is a member of The American Bar Association; The Kansas Bar Association; The Missouri Bar Association; The Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association; The Johnson County Bar Association; The Johnson County Family Law Inn of Court; The Association of Family and Conciliation Courts; and The Heartland Mediators Association.

Ms. McCarthy has been a Board Member for many years for Lazarus Ministries, an organization which provides for unmet food, clothing and shelter needs in the urban core. She has been a district chairperson for the Boy Scouts Investment in Character Family Campaign and assisted with School Night for Scouting membership drives. Ms. McCarthy serves on the Allies for Racial Justice initiative with St. James UMC and Church of the Resurrection.
